Stiff Neck Headache Prevention

Defined Tag:

The stiff neck headache - we've all had them as a result of some sort of stress as we were sitting in traffic hunched up or staring at a computer and an odd angle next thing you know headache starts backing ahead and before long you hold that is one dull ache.

A stiff neck headache is really just a tension headache caused by stress or tension.  Some over-the-counter medications can help but the best treatment is probably just to prevent getting a stiff neck headache in the first place by reducing stress.  Try to train yourself to stay calm in traffic situations. Most people don't realize it, but road rage and other traffic related tension is nothing more than laziness, from a driver who can't be bothered to watch and control his emotions. Sure, the other guy is a jerk and a nitwit; is that any reason his driving should make you lose control of your emotions and get a stiff neck headache? No matter what you think, road rage is never the fault of the other driver. The blame always belongs to the one who wasn't strong enough to keep a grip of their emotions.

Play relaxing music, such as Mozart or Bach, in the car. This nearly always provides some measure of relief for those who struggle with a stiff neck headache. And they can help keep stress from building up to road rage intensity.

Also, reassure yourself by constantly reminding yourself that bad driving is no more than you can expect; it's a proven fact that every other driver on the road is an idiot except for you.

Above all, be reasonable. There's no reason that you should suffer for other people's driving. Be calm. Be courteous. And enjoy the trip. Your neck and head will thank you for it.
